The Universal Dispenser is another patent pending technology that has been incorporated in the 5 Mix cartridge system to address the difficulties experienced by companies / users that frequently use different ratio products and currently have to purchase separate applicators or carry out awkward and time consuming pusher modifications on the applicator.
5 Mix have taken a different approach to the problem of different ratios, by considering the entire dispensing operation as an integrated system and not as different components, a novel and unique solution has been developed.
By utilising a Co-Axial approach (where one part is stored within another), all the ratios share a common outer cartridge and the inner cartridge size is adjusted to obtain the required ratio: |

Traditionally, each ratio required a bespoke applicator gun with pushers that closely matched the pistons. The graphics below show this principle for the two extremes - 1 to 1 and 10 to 1. |

The two graphics on either side show the "traditional" gun pusher arrangement, whereby the inner and outer pushers closely match the respective cartridge diameters.
On the 1:1 ratio, the outer pusher is narrow, combined with a large inner pusher.
On the 10:1 ratio, the outer pusher is wide, combined with a small inner pusher.
This large amount of support hs always been required because other cartridge manufactures always used pistons with minimal material content and each ratio considered in isolation of other ratios`.

The two graphics on either side show the 5 Mix pusher arrangement in the cartridges, whereby the small inner pusher from the 1:1 ratio and the narrow outer pusher from the 10:1 ratio is employed.
Although the amount of pushing area is reduced, the pistons on the 5 Mix cartridge have been optimised for these sizes to ensure perfect performance every time whilst at the same time making sure they are still backward compatible with existing single ratio applicators. |
